Procar was the championship for identical BMW M1 cars, where many F1 drivers participated. In 1979 races were held before Grand Prix F1. The first five positions on the grid were reserved for best five drivers from F1 qualifying who were running in factory rented cars. In 1980 Procar wasn't so depended on F1 races but some Grand Prix drivers continued to race in this series with their own cars.
